How do you keep a dog on Bed Rest?

Hes a hyper 5 month old bocer puppy! Ughh….

P.S.- Not my dog, but a friends
They would NEVER "bed rest" an animal for being hyper. He sprained his ankle running down the stairs

What do you mean by "bed rest"? Are you (or your friend) trying to put him on "bed rest" for being hyper, or because a vet advised this for another reason, such as an injury?
If it was advised by a vet, they should have given an explaination on what you could do. If not, my best suggestion would be to find a crate (,, etc) that is NOT too small, or too big and put a comfy bed or blankets in for him/her so it is comfy. This will generally keep them from running around or further injuring themselves if they are typically hyper. You will still need to walk him/her often and take them outside to do business.

limit its play. don’t allow the dog to play take the toys away and put them out of his reach and Limit the walks/out doors too. basically take him out to go to do his business then bring him back in. that’s about the best you can do.

Crate him most of the time. You can give him things to chew on to keep him occupied. Deer antler are good, or stuff a kong with some plain yogurt and mashed bananas, freeze it and give it to him. That will keep him quiet and busy for a while. Only exercise him on a leash, even when he goes out to potty.
