A big, but reasonably priced, guina pig cage?

OK so my guinea pig has a very small, classic pet-store-type cage, basically the size of a litter box. I’m earning a bit of money this summer and I want to get her a bigger one. Call me an animal freak, but I love her and don’t believe she should be forced to spend her life in what is basically 3 square feet.

There is only one guinea pig; here’s what I’d like:
1) 8 square feet or more
2) single level (no ramps/ladders/wheels)
3) wire sides for hay rack attachment
4) non-wire bottom
5) a pretty high "border" (3 inches or more) around the edge of the cage so she won’t kick bedding out
6) can’t be open top, I have a dog

I’m willing to compromise on one or two, I know I probably won’t be able to find a perfect one. Whenever my family or I try to build something, it usually doesn’t turn out too great, so thats basically out.
If anyone’s got any websites, tips, or info, I would REALLY REALLy appreciate it. Thanks so, so much! :)

You will never ever find a pet store cage that is eight square feet.

Visit this site for information on making your own cage using wire storage cubes. You can customize the size, height, and more! Plus, it’s easy to do. Even people who don’t have good building skills can make this cage. All you do is snap the grids in place, like a puzzle, only easier.

I suggest you go to guineapigcages.com they have really good info on basically what your describing a C&C cage, i suggest using fleece bedding which is reusable and you can find it at a craft store Walmart, Jo Ann. there is an option to put a top on a C&C cage, haha i dont call you an animal freak because pet store cages are too small. im glad someone realized that it’s too small.

edit: you can get coroplast at home depot, grids at walmart/target/ costco, fleece at Jo ann, any craft store/Walmart
